Kath, our ISVA, supports clients in many ways. One part of her role is to support clients that are going through the criminal justice process and once that process is over she will support them in making an CICA application if it’s appropriate and that is what the client would like.

Recently, one of Kath’s clients made a CICA application and was awarded a sum of money.

We fully understand that there can be a great deal of mixed emotions for our clients connected with being awarded money through the CICA process – anger that they are in such a position in the first place to being happy that they have a sum of money that can mean that they can go on holiday or help a loved one. Often ISVA clients are also going through the counselling process with us as well and when a CICA application is made, and then possibly awarded, their counsellor is there to help support them with their feelings around the process.

Once Jane* had been awarded the money she decided that she would like to make a donation to the service of £2,000.

Though we do not expect our clients to donate to us at all, this donation means that we are now able to finish off another counselling room with a new radiator and other things to make the room as warm and comfortable as possible. Demand for our counselling service is growing every day and being able to finish this room means that we will be able to offer more clients counselling each week.

Jane, thank you so much for your generosity.  As a small charity with limited funds, donations such as this make a huge difference to how we are able to support clients.

*not the client’s real name as they wish to remain anonymous.
